 Ecosmart Tankless Water Heater Reviews

EcoSmart ECO 27 Electric

The best tankless water heater for the money.

EcoSmart is a brand that I never hesitate to recommend to my customers, so you should know right off the bat that this is a good manufacturer with products you can depend on. What I really enjoy about Ecosmart, however, can be summed up in a single model: the ECO 27.

Small and compact, the ECO 27 can be installed absolutely anywhere in your home, including under sinks and inside closets. It’s an electric unit, so there’s no need to worry about fumes or flames. It’s a small but powerful water heating system that can deliver between 3-6 GPM depending on where you live and how many bathrooms you have.

The ECO 27 is also the cream of the crop in terms of features. Not only can you control the temperature in single degree increments, but you can also switch between Fahrenheit and Celsius displays and modulate your unit with a convenient remote control.

To top it all off, the ECO 27 is a great value for the money. It isn’t the absolute cheapest, but it’s far from the most expensive, either. You can rest assured you’re making a good investment when you buy this brand.

But you don’t have to take my word for it: If you’re interested in the ECO 27, check it out on Amazon and see its features for yourself.

Ecosmart ECO 36

A small unit belies the power within.

The ECO 36 is much like others in the ECO line; it delivers high flow rates, high energy savings and high purchase satisfaction from those who order it.

In fact, the only part of the ECO 36 that isn’t high is its low, low measurements. It clocks in at just 17 x 19 x 3.8 inches and 17 pounds, making it one of the smallest electric tankless water heaters that still delivers such impressive power. Ecosmart estimates that it’s 90 percent smaller than others in its range.

What does this small size mean for you? For one, you can install it anywhere, even inside a storage closet that you never use anymore. The ECO 36 is fully electric and doesn’t require vents to function.

It also means that you won’t find anything else like it on Amazon. Go on, check it out. I dare you to unearth another unit with the same kind of specs.

EcoSmart ECO 11

Self-modulating technology translates into great energy savings.

If you’re looking for a unit that will save you a ton of money on your energy bill, the ECO 11 is one of the best tankless water heaters 2017. It can reduce your energy consumption by up to 60 percent!

The secret lies in the ECO 11’s self-modulating technology. You see, many heating units simply shove a handful of power at the source without caring if it’s too much. Their manufacturers are so concerned about meeting minimum power demands that they’d rather have too much and waste it rather than run the risk of not having enough.

With the ECO 11, however, you’ll enjoy the self-modulating power that never uses too much or too little. Like Goldilocks, the amount will always be just right. Not only does this translate into a more intuitive, convenient water heating system, but it’s also extremely energy-saving since no power is going to waste.

It’s amazing technology to behold, and it’s definitely worth a trip to Amazon to look at it. Let the ECO 11 be your new solution to greener living.

EcoSmart ECO 18

A steady, dependable unit with a lifetime warranty.

The great thing about tankless water heaters is that they last twice as long as traditional water tanks. When properly maintained, you’ll enjoy anywhere from 10-20 years with them. But what if you want even greater assurances? What if you want coverage that’s guaranteed for a lifetime?

The ECO 18 is an electric tankless water heater that comes with a lifetime warranty. In addition to offering all the usual perks of an EcoSmart system, including indoor installation, self-modulating technology and precision temperature control, the ECO 18 will give you guaranteed coverage for the entire time you reside in your home.

Now that’s something worth checking out on Amazon, right?

Rheem Tankless Water Heater Reviews

Rheem RTEX 13 Electric

Perfect for small homes and moderate temperatures.

Sometimes you don’t need a workhorse unit, but only something for a single bathroom.

In cases like these, you can turn to the reliable RTEX 13. The RTEX 13 is a tiny electric unit that goes wonderfully with small spaces like apartments and cabins.

It’s an electric unit that delivers up to 3.17 GPM at 240 volts, enough to service a shower and a couple sinks simultaneously. You’ll never have to worry about running out of hot water if this is installed in your bathroom.

The RTEX models perform great for smaller needs, and are a bit more user-friendly than other small units.

That said, the RTEX 13 is perfect for individuals, couples and small families, so don’t hesitate to explore its Amazon page.

EDITOR RATING: FOUR STARS

Rheem RTEX 11

A great unit for smaller situations.

See it on Amazon

If you’re intrigued by the thought of using a tankless water heater but unsure if you can handle all the bells and whistles of the switch, I have just the product for you.

The RTEX 11 is an affordable and easy-to-use electric unit that doesn’t require a degree to install. It can be done right at home with a screwdriver and an instruction manual, and Rheem technicians are also available through a 24/7 hotline if you need to ask questions or seek advice.

As for power, you might be slightly underwhelmed with just 2-3 GPM, but keep in mind that the RTEX 11 is what’s known as a “point of use” unit.

If it doesn’t meet your hot water requirements, you can simply install another unit at another sink for twice the power.

I should also mention the incredibly simple interface that makes it easy for even complete newbies to understand what’s going on within the unit.

It has a temperature dial, clearly marked controls and LED lights to indicate activity. It doesn’t get much more beginner-friendly than that.

If you’re ready to make the switch but not sure how, check out the RTEX 11 on Amazon.

Rheem RTGH-95DVLN

Incredible power that can still be installed indoors.

The RTGH-95DVLN offers a whopping 9.5 GPM, and that usually means you’re looking at a complicated venting system with lots of bells and whistles to compensate for so much power. With the RTGH-95DVLN, however, you’ll enjoy a special low-NOx condensing system that takes care of the worst of the fumes before they even reach the air slits, and that in turn means that the RTGH-95DVLN can be installed indoors.

Yes, you read that right. Despite being a powerful, whole-house unit, this model can still be put inside. It’s an amazing breakthrough in tankless water heater technology and definitely one you should explore on Amazon.

EDITOR RATING: FOUR STARS

Rheem RTGH-95DVLP

A propane version of all the benefits listed above.

See it on Amazon

If you’re intrigued by the RTGH-95DVLN but looking for a propane unit instead of a natural gas one, this is the water heater for you. It still offers a staggering 9.5 GPM and 94 percent energy factor, but it’s completely methane-free!

Another thing to note about the RTGH-95DVLP is that it comes with PVC pipes right in the box. Rheem really wants to make installation easy for you, so not only do they eschew complex venting systems thanks to their condensing processes, but they even give you parts for free. It’s definitely worth checking out on Amazon.

EDITOR RATING: FOUR STARS

Rheem RTG-84DVLN

Easy indoor installation makes this unit one of the best.

Do you remember when I said that Rheem wants to make installation easy for its customers?

They’ve done it again with the RTG-84DVLN, this time including remote controls and thermostat wires with every order.

Not only will you receive all the benefits of the tankless water heater itself, but you’ll also be given a hand up when it comes to getting it situated within your home.

Yes, I said within your home. The RTG-84DVLN is another indoor unit despite it being powered by natural gas, and you can once again thank Rheem’s internal condensing system for breaking down harmful fumes before they even reach the air.

Check out the RTG-84DVLN on Amazon. You won’t be disappointed.

Takagi Tankless Water Heater Reviews & Best Picks

Takagi T-H3-DV-N Condensing High Efficiency Natural Gas Indoor

With great power comes great responsibility.

At 10 GPM, the T-H3-DV-N isn’t playing around. It’s meant for homeowners who have serious hot water needs or live in extremely cold climates where their heating units have to work double time just to function.

But don’t think that the T-H3-DV-N has forgotten about safety in the pursuit of bigger and better highs. This is actually a model that I recommend quite often to parents with small children because of all the built-in safety features you can find when you pry open the door and look inside. For example, the T-H3-DV-N has computerized shut-off settings that automatically detect when the unit has been operating too much or too long. It also comes with a special low-NOx system to reduce harmful emissions in the air.

The 10 GPM shouldn’t be glossed over, either. That’s a higher flow rate than several other tankless water heaters on this list combined. It does require a rather large amount of BTUs, but that’s the price you pay for such an excellent flow capacity.

Speaking very generally, the T-H3-DV-N has a lot of pros and very few cons.

If you’re looking for safety, the T-H3-DV-N has it. If you’re looking for power, the T-H3-DV-N has that, too. It’s a great overall product and definitely one that you should peruse on Amazon.

Takagi TH3-J-DV-N Condensing High Efficiency Natural Gas – Indoor

Whole-house power for smaller homes.

Also built specifically to be housed indoors, this model heats 6.6 gallons of water per minute making this water heater a super efficient whole house water heater for a smaller house.

In colder climates this unit will heat around 5.5 gallons per minute. At 2.1 GPM for a typical shower, it means you could run 2 showers and a sink simultaneously and still have hot water at each tap or 3 showers in warmer climates.

This compact unit saves space and is energy star certified for energy conservation and weighs 58 lbs. It also boasts computerized safety features such as no pilot light to have to worry about and has Ultra-Low NOx Emissions.

Rinnai Tankless Water Heater Reviews & Best Picks

Rinnai RL75iN

When you’re tired of lukewarm water, the RL75iN is the unit for you.

The RL75iN doesn’t play around when it comes to water temperature. While the residential settings are capped at 140°F, the commercial settings go all the way up to 160°F. That’s enough for even the toughest of dish or laundry stains.

Another selling point of the RL75iN is its controls. Temperature and pressure can be adjusted both on the unit itself and through the use of a Rinnai remote control, and the remote control also comes with easy-to-use buttons and Error Code Indicators. You won’t have to worry about your spouse messing up the controls of this tankless water heater. The remote control will let them know when they’re doing something they shouldn’t be doing.

What else does the RL75iN have going for it? How about its flow rate of 7.5 GPM or its energy factor of 82 percent? Those are pretty great numbers. They’re designed to meet the needs of homes and offices, after all.

Broadly speaking, the RL75iN is a great water heater for people who aren’t afraid of power. Between its big temperature ranges and its high flow capacity, it’s a unit that will get the job done every time.

Take a look at the Amazon page to check it yourself !

EDITOR RATING: FOUR STARS

Rinnai RL94iN

Impressive specs for an impressive water heater.

9.4 GPM is a flow rate that’s more than enough for modern homeowners.

In fact, I’d go as far as to say that it’s unnecessarily large unless you’re doing industrial-sized laundry or running a half-dozen showers at once.

But maybe you do have a large family. Or maybe you just like having the peace of mind that comes with a unit more than capable of meeting all your hot water demands.

Either way, the RL94iN will deliver great power on every criterion used to make a water heater purchase.

9.4 GPM? Check.

84 percent energy factor? Check.

Temperatures ranging from 98°F – 185°F? Check.

All in all, you’ll definitely want to take a closer look at the RL94iN on Amazon. While it isn’t a flawless unit, it offers so many benefits that they practically smother the drawbacks.

Rinnai V65EN

Lightweight and ready to go.

rinnai v65 review

It may be a whole-house, natural gas tankless water heater, but the V65EN doesn’t let bulk slow it down. It’s a remarkably lightweight unit that can be installed anywhere outdoors or with a direct vent to fresh air, and at just 13.8 x 6.8 x 20.9 inches, it’s entirely possible to pass it and not know it’s there.

You’ll be surprised by how quickly it becomes part of the scenery.

But what about its power? you may be asking. The V65EN offers 6.6 GM and can require up to 150,000 BTUs to operate. It has an energy factor of 82 percent.

It comes pre-set at 120°F, but if you allow a Rinnai technician to complete the installation, they can tweak it to 140°F.

All of this translates into a fantastic whole-house unit that’s more than worth the price.

It may cost you a little more upfront than other units, but you should take it as an investment for the future. Where else can you find such a compact yet powerful water heating system?

When other tankless water heaters are bearing down under their heft, the V65EN remains a light and breezy option for warming up your taps.

Give it a look on Amazon and see if you agree with my assessment.

EDITOR RATING: FOUR STARS

Rinnai V65EP

A safety-conscious model that will keep moms and dads happy.

To be completely honest, the V65EP has middle-of-the-road statistics; it offers 6.6 GPM and requires 150,000 BTUs, and these numbers aren’t particularly low or high. They’re right in the middle of what you can expect from propane tankless water heaters.

That said, what the V65EP excels in is safety. In addition to complying with all air quality management standards, it also offers enhanced protection around the unit itself, so you’ll never have to worry about the box getting damaged without your knowledge. If anything happens, it’ll alert you to the problem.

Now that’s worth checking out on Amazon, right?

EDITOR RATING: FOUR STARS

Rinnai RUR98IN

When only the highest flow rates will do.

The RUR98IN is a true marvel of water heating technology. Its flow rate is 9.8 GPM, one of the highest on the market, but it also utilizes Rinnai’s great low-NOx condensing system, so you’re basically getting the high power of natural gas without any of the drawbacks of a methane system.

In fact, the only real downside of the RU98IN is that it requires a lot of energy to give a lot of energy; it needs around 199,000 BTUs to function. If you don’t mind that give-and-take, however, you’ll find that the RUR98IN is a smart choice for homes and families with high hot water demands. Look at its specs on Amazon to see how impressive it is for yourself.

EDITOR RATING: FOUR STARS

Rinnai RL94eP

When you like it hot.

There are two temperate ranges for the RL94eP:

-In residential settings, you’ll enjoy 98°F – 140°F.
-In commercial settings, you’ll enjoy 98°F – 185°F.

These numbers exceed many others on the market, and that’s why the RL94eP is one of my favorites in these tankless water heater reviews 2017.

Not only does it offer a powerful 9.4 GPM with an 83 percent energy factor, but it’ll also keep you well-supplied with water so hot that it will scorch a hole in your floor if you’re not careful.

Just look at what people are saying about it on Amazon!

EDITOR RATING: FOUR STARS

Rinnai V75IN

Perfect for apartments, condos and mobile homes.

As you may have noticed, not many of these tankless water heater reviews mention mobile homes. That’s because many tankless water heaters aren’t certified to install in “manufactured” (mobile) housing units.

The good news is that the V75IN is here to fulfill that need. Whether you live in a high-rise condo or a small mobile home, it will deliver 7.5 GPM and an energy factor of 82 percent.

Even if you aren’t sure that it’s the water heater for you, it’s worth a quick peek on Amazon.

Stiebel Eltron Tankless Water Heater Reviews

Stiebel Eltron Tempra 24 Plus

Temperature controls are only the start of the value.

There’s a lot to love about the Tempra 24 Plus, including a single flow sensor design for easy use and a digital interface where you can monitor the temperature of your water down to the degree. You might also be interested in its 240 V, 24 kW and 150 PSI.What should really capture your attention, however, is its price.

While not the most affordable water heater on the market in terms of raw costs, the Tempra 24 Plus boasts a fantastic return on investment (ROI) in long-term energy savings.

It’s a whole house unit, one of the most energy-demanding varieties of tankless water heaters, and yet it can still save you between 20 and 30 percent on your water bill every month. That’s a crazy savings rate!

It also comes with an extended warranty that will keep you protected even in the face of defects and damage. This is a one-two punch for both ownership convenience and long-time value. Think of all the money you’ll save when you don’t have to repair or replace your malfunctioning unit because you’re covered by the warranty.

Check out the Tempra 24 Plus on Amazon if you’re ready to experience a tankless water heater that prioritizes value just as much as power. Not all of them do, so it’s important to latch on when you find one that does.

EDITOR RATING: FIVE STARS

Stiebel Eltron Tempra 29 Plus

An electric unit that can be installed anywhere.

Check Price on Amazon

As an electric unit, the Tempra 29 Plus doesn’t require any external venting or condensing systems. You can just hang it on a wall or store it under a sink and let it work its magic. It’s only 17 pounds, so it isn’t a heavy or cumbersome load.

Another excellent aspect of the Tempra 29 Plus is the way it allows for personal customization and control. The digital interface lets you know exactly how hot your water is, and if you aren’t pleased with that number, you can change it through a number of dials, buttons and settings. The unit itself is even color-coded with a temperature wheel where “hand washing” settings are blue and “scalding” settings are red!

How hot is scalding, you may ask? The maximum temperature of the Tempra 29 Plus is 125°F, more than enough to unknot your muscles after a long day. You can also lower it all the way down to 86°F if your tastes run to the opposite end of the spectrum.

All in all, the Tempra 29 Plus is an excellent unit that has a lot going for it, and I encourage everyone to check it out on Amazon.

Stiebel Eltron Mini 3 Electric

One of the smallest units on the market is also one of the most affordable.

If you’re looking for value, it doesn’t get much better than the Mini 3 Electric. It weighs less than four pounds yet still delivers instant hot water at 115 volts. It also offers immense energy savings of up to 60 percent.

As you can probably imagine, it’s too small to function as a whole-house unit, but one of the benefits of its tiny size is that it can be installed in plain sight at every sink where you need hot water. In fact, it’s so light and unobtrusive that some customers report their guests mistaking it for hanging art! Give it a click on Amazon and read the reports yourself.

Eccotemp L10 Portable Outdoor Heater

It also comes with several assembly parts already included in the box for even greater convenience. Don’t worry about gas regulators, rain caps and garden hose adapters; Eccotemp includes them with every purchase.

All in all, the L10 is a great portable unit for outdoor use. Between its light weight and already-included parts, it’s an absolute steal available on Amazon.

EDITOR RATING: FIVE STARS

Eccotemp L5 Portable Tankless Water Heater

A portable water heater that also doubles as a shower.

The first propane unit on this list is also one of the most appealing. While it only offers 1.4 GPM, a number significantly lower than other propane tankless water heaters, it more than makes up for its lack of power by providing nearly unparalleled convenience. For one, it’s a fully portable outdoor unit, so you can take it anywhere you please.

Hook it up to your log cabin in the woods; mount it to an exterior wall on your home; you can even hang it off a tree in your backyard. It’s designed for your convenience above all else.

Speaking of convenience, the L5 comes with a shower head attachment that will enable you to take luxuriously hot showers even in the middle of nowhere. As long as you have a water supply, an electrical connection and the L5, you can get clean no matter how rustic you’re living.

Check out the L5 on Amazon to see if it’s something that matches your portable tankless water heater needs. If you aren’t surprised by its low price, I’ll eat my hat!

Eccotemp FVI-12-NG High Capacity Gas

Independent controls make the FVI-12-NG a cut above the rest.

Controls are what set some units apart from others in these tankless water heater reviews. If you can’t control what your unit is doing, what’s the point of having it in the first place?

That’s why the FVI-12-NG is such a good choice for those who want power and precision in their water heating systems. Not only will it give you 2-4 GPM depending on how many bathrooms you have and how much hot water you’re using at one time, but the FVI-12-NG also comes with fully independent dials for gas and water. You can change one, both or neither at all. It’s a very customizable system that allows every individual have their own preferences and settings.

So that’s why I love the FVI-12-NG, and that’s why I think it’s different from so many tankless water heaters on the market. It doesn’t force you to conform to its standards.

It puts you in the driver’s seat and lets you call all the shots. That’s why I recommend the FVI-12-NG and why I think you should also look at it on Amazon yourself.

EDITOR RATING: FOUR STARS

Eccotemp FVI-12-LP High Capacity Propane

This unit has almost the exact same specs as the one above, and it’s the same brand and model too. The difference is that it runs on propane instead of methane (natural gas). While you won’t really notice any changes in terms of how it operates, it might be a switch worth considering if you care deeply about emissions or eco-friendly living.

What else is there to say about the FVI-12-LP? It still offers 2-4 GPM. It requires 74,500 BTUs to operate. It’s only 20 pounds, and it can be installed anywhere there’s venting to outside air.

The controls are the same as well, and if you’re still in disbelief that a tankless water heater can provide that much precision, I encourage you once again to check it out on Amazon. I’m not making these specs up!

EDITOR RATING: FOUR STARS

Eccotemp 45HI-LP Indoor Liquid Propane

Impressive specs make for an impressive heating unit.

At 15 x 5 x 24 inches and 38 pounds, the 45HI-LP is one of the largest indoor models that Eccotemp has to offer. The good news is that it’s still light enough to install anywhere, including attics and basements, and it also comes with a nice flow rate of 6.8 GPM. You shouldn’t have any problem owning or operating the 45HI-L. The customers on Amazon aren’t complaining, either.

EDITOR RATING: FOUR STARS

Eccotemp 45H-NG Outdoor

A unit so good that it can make you change your mind about indoor installation.

The 45H-NG needs to be installed outdoors, so that’s a strike against it right away if you’re looking for indoor units. On the other hand, it offers 6.8 GPM with a 110 volt power supply, so maybe it’s a unit worth considering even if you were only thinking about indoor installations.

Eccotemp is a brand you can trust no matter which model you wind up buying, so the choice isn’t as fraught as it could be. Check it out on Amazon and decide for yourself if the 45H-NG is worth a change of preferences.

Bosch Tankless Water Heater Reviews & Best Picks

Hot water without delays.

While only offering 2.6 GPM, the AE115 PowerStar is remarkably efficient when it comes to flow.

Some tankless water heaters can have flow delays of ~15 seconds or more, but the AE115 PowerStar isn’t one of them.

You’ll enjoy steady, uninterrupted hot water for as long as you want it, and while you might only wring one appliance at a time out of its system, you can always install more.

The AE115 PowerStar is a “point of use” unit, meaning that if you aren’t happy with the flow rate between sinks, you can simply install a unit at each one.

It’s something to think about as you browse its Amazon page.

Bosch Therm 520 HN NG

A unit that breaks the curve.

There are many kinds of tankless water heaters on the market, but only a few have the distinction of being unique.

The Bosch Therm 520 HN NG accomplishes this through its hydro-power ignition that doesn’t require electricity to work.

That’s right: You can enjoy endless hot water from a whole-house natural gas unit that doesn’t actually require electricity to start.

If that isn’t worth reading more about on Amazon, I don’t know what is.

EDITOR RATING: FOUR STARS

Bosch WH27 Tronic Whole House Electric

Fantastic energy efficiency from a small unit.

Offering all the features you’d expect from Bosch but in an electric unit this time, the WH27 Tronic provides 3.3 GPM at a 55-degree temperature rise.

This isn’t stellar in terms of simultaneous usage, and you should really only expect to use one major appliance at a time with such numbers, but what the WH27 Tronic lacks in power it makes up for with its energy efficiency.

You’ll save anywhere from 5-30 percent on your energy bill when you make the switch to this unit. The exact number will depend on how you use it and what your hot water demands look like at home, but it’s a noteworthy amount of savings all the same.

The WH27 Tronic also boasts an energy factor of 97 percent. If nothing else, that is something that should send you to Amazon for a closer look.

EDITOR RATING: FOUR STARS

Bosch AE125 PowerStar

Power that varies by location.

The performance of the AE125 PowerStar will depend on where you live. If you’re in a cold, snowy climate, it probably won’t be able to heat more than one bathroom at a time, and that may or may not be enough power for you.

On the other hand, if you live in a more moderate climate, the AE125 PowerStar can power 2-3 bathrooms at once and therefore handle all the needs of a modern family.

This one really depends on your location, so you might want to look at it on Amazon before making your final decision.

Bosch US7 Tronic 3000

Copper sheaths that improve quality and durability.

As a “point of use” unit, you may need to install several US7 Tronic 3000s around your home to get the same heating efficiency as a whole-house unit.

It delivers slightly less than one GPM (0.9 GPM), and that simply isn’t enough for multiple appliances at once, especially if they’re high-demand appliances like dishwashers and washing machines.

So why am I recommending the US7 Tronic 3000? It’s all about the copper sheaths. The heat exchanger in this unit covers its heating elements with copper sheaths, and that’s an excellent way to increase the longevity of a tankless water heater.

You can order it now from Amazon and it’ll still be around for decades to come!

Noritz Tankless Water Heater Reviews & Best Picks

Noritz NRC98-DV-NG

Everything worth buying in a single unit.

I love condensing units. I think I’ve made that clear while completing these tankless water heater reviews 2017. Not only are they safer for families, but they’re also greener and more energy-efficient for the environment as a whole.

So believe me when I say that the NRC98-DV-NG is worth the money for its condensing system alone. Yes, the flow rate (9.8 GPM) and installation (indoor) are excellent selling points as well, but what really makes this unit special is the low-NOx properties that will help you live more sustainably with every washing of your hands.

But if you’re still not sure you can believe me, you can always check out the product on Amazon to see for yourself.

Navien NPE-240A Premium Condensing

Double the power, double the convenience.

The NPE-240A doesn’t offer a single heat exchanger. It offers two. That means double the heat, double the flow rate and double the benefit to you.

It also means double the power consumption, but if you’re less worried about BTUs and more worried about GPM, the NPE-240A is a great investment for larger homes and apartments.

It can serve anywhere from 2-4 bathrooms at once depending on how it’s used, so you’ll be able to fill tubs, wash cars and run spin cycles with ease.

Mosey on over to Amazon and have a look at the NPE-240A. You’ll be glad you did.

Navien NPE-180A Premium Condensing

Works with you, not against you.

One of the most common complaints about tankless water heaters is that they’re difficult to install. They can require everything from ground lines to circuit breakers to fit into place, and that takes time, effort and money.

The good news is that the NPE-180A bypasses all of that. It uses your existing framework, including your existing ground line, to create a seamless switch from water tanks to tankless water heaters. It’s also field convertible if that’s something you need, too.

Is it worth taking a look on Amazon? You decide.

Navien NPE-240-A Tankless Gas

When you need a unit that can get the job done.

While not the lightest or most energy-efficient model on the market, the NPE-240-A is a great choice when you don’t feel like playing around with your hot water. It’s a powerful whole-house unit that will serve multiple bathrooms at once, giving you everything you need to take showers, run dishwashers and do loads of laundry at the same time.

As a bonus, Navien includes both a buffer tank and a re-circulation pump with every order, so keep that in mind as you check out the product on Amazon. You won’t need to buy either of those things to install the NPE-240-A.

Navien NP-240 Commercial Condensing

This is not a recommended product

Navien NP-240 Commercial Condensing Tankless Water Heater with Pump and Buffer Tank, Natural Gas

This model, the Navien NP-240 Commercial condensing is reported to be not very worth after paying such a huge price. It has got several complaints from many customers and it has just got a low rating on most of the e-commerce portals.

However, this model may benefit some office workers. The NP-240 is a commercial condensing unit that can be installed indoors even though it’s powered by natural gas; you can thank both its PVC vents and its low-NOx system for the added convenience of being able to set it up inside your office.

P.S . Not a recommended product. You may find it useful in office but not at all in home.

Marey Power Tankless Water Heater Reviews & Best Picks

Marey Power Gas 10L with Digital Panel

An easy-to-use interface makes this unit great for newbies.

The Power Gas 10L comes with a digital LED display so simple that even a child could understand it. That said, a child probably couldn’t parse the intricacies of its flow capacity and pressure ratings, and they probably wouldn’t appreciate the fact that the Power Gas 10L runs on D cell batteries and therefore doesn’t require electricity.

So it’s a good thing you’re the one looking it up on Amazon, right?

EDITOR RATING: THREE STARS

Marey Power Gas 10L 3.1 GPM Propane Gas

A great value for the money, though a little under-powered on the whole.

The Power Gas 10L can be run with or without electricity, so it would be worth a look even without the low price that makes it so attractive to buyers on Amazon.

It should be noted, however, that it only offers 3.1 GPM, and that’s just enough for a couple of showers and sinks at a time.

You’ll need to be careful not to overdo simultaneous usage when you buy this one.

RATING: FOUR STARS

Marey Power Portable Propane

Portability in an affordable package.

The Marey Power Portable Propane can be taken anywhere you desire, and that includes cottages deep in the woods and construction sites in the middle of an urban jungle.

Even more importantly for a portable unit, it comes with a full five-year warranty covering accidents, defects and damage, so you don’t have to worry about gently scraping it and then losing your coverage forever.

If you want a portable unit that will actually stick around for awhile, check out this Marey product on Amazon.

A Few Final Words

These are just a few of the best tankless water heaters 2017. I’ve put a lot of effort into ranking and reviewing these units, so I hope I’ve helped at least a few people out there make a smart purchase decision.

If you’re still undecided, that’s okay, too. You shouldn’t rush into the purchase of such an important appliance. Just remember that any product receiving less than 3.5 stars on Amazon probably isn’t worth the price.

This concludes my tankless water heater reviews 2018. Good luck! Happy hunting!

  1. Thanks for the great information, it was very helpful! I am looking for an electric version and was leaning toward the EcoSmart. Upon further investigation, I found that EcoSmart models require at least two 220V circuits. I don’t have that in our condo, so looks like Rheam is the better option for me. Perhaps you can include this information so that others will know there are different requirements for electrical connections. Also, I found that Rheam has a newer model with digital display and 1-degree increment setting – RTEX-13.

  2. Should look at the copper vs stainless steel heating elements as a point of review especially for those on acidic well water when comparing these as the longevity is greatly different in this application and some of your top choices are not stainless.. Check out the Navien NPE-A in this regard, I think you missed out on the opportunity to teach there. Some worry about up front cost while others look at overall cost and early replacement . Great review otherwise.

  3. Copper is of great harm when acidic water from wells that do not have pH filtration units oxidize the copper from the heating element and go into the whole house supply. Copper is a healthy hazard in these scenarios and levels found in people using these types of applications lead to disease and harm.

  4. Thanks for your comprehensive review. I had a bad experience with another brand and had to remove it so the effort and time you have taken to do your review is really appreciated.

hi having trouble with our HTP tankless water heater trying to find ratings and or comments

    • Hello Bruce,

I’m sorry you are having trouble with your HTP unit. We have not reviewed the HTP brand or models, but are curious which model you have, how long you have had it and just what the trouble is. Please let us know.

Have you troubleshooted the problem with a plumber or the manufacturer?

      Thank you.

  6. How do I know if a tankless is condensing or non condensing?

  7. Hello DE Klingenberg,

Its a huge list of tankless water heater you have prepared. I like tankless beacase this type of water heater is eco-friendly as well as economical. The most beneficial feature of this is on-demand hot water. It requires some maintenance to get the best output.

Whatever, do you think compare of its cost, tankless a bit less economical than tank type?

Thanks for such a great post

    • It really depends on the individual situation. If you have natural or propane gas, it can be the same or more economical. Recirculating units can be even more economical than tanks because you save water costs by not having to run the water in order to get hot water to the tap. Tanks heat and reheat water even when hot water is not needed for hours on end. So, again, it really depends on the situation. Hope that helps.

I know that outdoor water heaters have various advantages like they are ideal for families living in farmer climates and easier, cheaper, and faster to install. However, I still have questions that what are the differences between indoor and outdoor tankless water heaters? And what is better? Hoping you can willing to answer my questions. Thanks!

  9. Can you Suggest me Best tankless water heater for 4 member family

    • I can suggest a size, but the brand will be up to the individual. Your website seems to offer similar information to mine. I might ask you the same question. If someone can afford it, I suggest a Rinnai unit that handles at least 7 to 9 gpm for a family of 4. Depends on the climate. Can’t go wrong with https://amzn.to/387Enay.
