Hot water without delays.
While only offering 2.6 GPM, the AE115 PowerStar is remarkably efficient when it comes to flow.
Some tankless water heaters can have flow delays of ~15 seconds or more, but the AE115 PowerStar isn’t one of them.
You’ll enjoy steady, uninterrupted hot water for as long as you want it, and while you might only wring one appliance at a time out of its system, you can always install more.
The AE115 PowerStar is a “point of use” unit, meaning that if you aren’t happy with the flow rate between sinks, you can simply install a unit at each one.
It’s something to think about as you browse its Amazon page.

A unit that breaks the curve.
There are many kinds of tankless water heaters on the market, but only a few have the distinction of being unique.
The Bosch Therm 520 HN NG accomplishes this through its hydro-power ignition that doesn’t require electricity to work.
That’s right: You can enjoy endless hot water from a whole-house natural gas unit that doesn’t actually require electricity to start.
If that isn’t worth reading more about on Amazon, I don’t know what is.

Fantastic energy efficiency from a small unit.
Offering all the features you’d expect from Bosch but in an electric unit this time, the WH27 Tronic provides 3.3 GPM at a 55-degree temperature rise.
This isn’t stellar in terms of simultaneous usage, and you should really only expect to use one major appliance at a time with such numbers, but what the WH27 Tronic lacks in power it makes up for with its energy efficiency.
You’ll save anywhere from 5-30 percent on your energy bill when you make the switch to this unit. The exact number will depend on how you use it and what your hot water demands look like at home, but it’s a noteworthy amount of savings all the same.
The WH27 Tronic also boasts an energy factor of 97 percent. If nothing else, that is something that should send you to Amazon for a closer look.
EDITOR RATING: FOUR STARS
Power that varies by location.
The performance of the AE125 PowerStar will depend on where you live. If you’re in a cold, snowy climate, it probably won’t be able to heat more than one bathroom at a time, and that may or may not be enough power for you.
On the other hand, if you live in a more moderate climate, the AE125 PowerStar can power 2-3 bathrooms at once and therefore handle all the needs of a modern family.
This one really depends on your location, so you might want to look at it on Amazon before making your final decision.

Copper sheaths that improve quality and durability.
As a “point of use” unit, you may need to install several US7 Tronic 3000s around your home to get the same heating efficiency as a whole-house unit.
It delivers slightly less than one GPM (0.9 GPM), and that simply isn’t enough for multiple appliances at once, especially if they’re high-demand appliances like dishwashers and washing machines.
So why am I recommending the US7 Tronic 3000? It’s all about the copper sheaths. The heat exchanger in this unit covers its heating elements with copper sheaths, and that’s an excellent way to increase the longevity of a tankless water heater.
You can order it now from Amazon and it’ll still be around for decades to come!

Noritz Tankless Water Heater Reviews & Best Picks
Everything worth buying in a single unit.
I love condensing units. I think I’ve made that clear while completing these tankless water heater reviews 2017. Not only are they safer for families, but they’re also greener and more energy-efficient for the environment as a whole.
So believe me when I say that the NRC98-DV-NG is worth the money for its condensing system alone. Yes, the flow rate (9.8 GPM) and installation (indoor) are excellent selling points as well, but what really makes this unit special is the low-NOx properties that will help you live more sustainably with every washing of your hands.
But if you’re still not sure you can believe me, you can always check out the product on Amazon to see for yourself.
EDITOR RATING: FOUR STARS
One of the highest flow rates on the market.
Do you need maximum power in a tankless water heater? Are you tired of scrolling past tiny little units with the minuscule flow and pressure rates?
The NRC1111-DV-NG offers a staggering 11.1 GPM. Yes, you read that right. It’s a flow capacity that exceeds just about everything else on the market, including other natural gas models and even other Noritz products.
If you’re looking for the ultimate flow rate in tankless water heaters, check out the NRC1111-DV-NG on Amazon.

Navien Tankless Water Heater Reviews & Best Picks
Double the power, double the convenience.
The NPE-240A doesn’t offer a single heat exchanger. It offers two. That means double the heat, double the flow rate and double the benefit to you.
It also means double the power consumption, but if you’re less worried about BTUs and more worried about GPM, the NPE-240A is a great investment for larger homes and apartments.
It can serve anywhere from 2-4 bathrooms at once depending on how it’s used, so you’ll be able to fill tubs, wash cars and run spin cycles with ease.
Mosey on over to Amazon and have a look at the NPE-240A. You’ll be glad you did.
EDITOR RATING: FOUR STARS
Works with you, not against you.
One of the most common complaints about tankless water heaters is that they’re difficult to install. They can require everything from ground lines to circuit breakers to fit into place, and that takes time, effort and money.
The good news is that the NPE-180A bypasses all of that. It uses your existing framework, including your existing ground line, to create a seamless switch from water tanks to tankless water heaters. It’s also field convertible if that’s something you need, too.
Is it worth taking a look on Amazon? You decide.
EDITOR RATING: FOUR STARS
When you need a unit that can get the job done.
While not the lightest or most energy-efficient model on the market, the NPE-240-A is a great choice when you don’t feel like playing around with your hot water. It’s a powerful whole-house unit that will serve multiple bathrooms at once, giving you everything you need to take showers, run dishwashers and do loads of laundry at the same time.
As a bonus, Navien includes both a buffer tank and a re-circulation pump with every order, so keep that in mind as you check out the product on Amazon. You won’t need to buy either of those things to install the NPE-240-A.

Navien NP-240 Commercial Condensing
This is not a recommended product

This model, the Navien NP-240 Commercial condensing is reported to be not very worth after paying such a huge price. It has got several complaints from many customers and it has just got a low rating on most of the e-commerce portals.
However, this model may benefit some office workers. The NP-240 is a commercial condensing unit that can be installed indoors even though it’s powered by natural gas; you can thank both its PVC vents and its low-NOx system for the added convenience of being able to set it up inside your office.

P.S . Not a recommended product. You may find it useful in office but not at all in home.
Marey Power Tankless Water Heater Reviews & Best Picks
Marey Power Gas 10L with Digital Panel
An easy-to-use interface makes this unit great for newbies.
The Power Gas 10L comes with a digital LED display so simple that even a child could understand it. That said, a child probably couldn’t parse the intricacies of its flow capacity and pressure ratings, and they probably wouldn’t appreciate the fact that the Power Gas 10L runs on D cell batteries and therefore doesn’t require electricity.
So it’s a good thing you’re the one looking it up on Amazon, right?
EDITOR RATING: THREE STARS
A great value for the money, though a little under-powered on the whole.
The Power Gas 10L can be run with or without electricity, so it would be worth a look even without the low price that makes it so attractive to buyers on Amazon.
It should be noted, however, that it only offers 3.1 GPM, and that’s just enough for a couple of showers and sinks at a time.
You’ll need to be careful not to overdo simultaneous usage when you buy this one.
RATING: FOUR STARS
Portability in an affordable package.
The Marey Power Portable Propane can be taken anywhere you desire, and that includes cottages deep in the woods and construction sites in the middle of an urban jungle.
Even more importantly for a portable unit, it comes with a full five-year warranty covering accidents, defects and damage, so you don’t have to worry about gently scraping it and then losing your coverage forever.
If you want a portable unit that will actually stick around for awhile, check out this Marey product on Amazon.

You should definitely check out the ECO 27 on Amazon and see if it looks like the right tankless water heater for you.
AND THE RUNNER-UP IS…
A versatile unit that won’t cost you in the long run.
Some tankless water heaters will save you money initially but then turn into cash-guzzlers down the line. With the Tempra 24 Plus, however, you can rest assured that you’ll both get and maintain a good ROI for as long as you’re running the unit. Look up the Tempra 24 Plus on Amazon and see for yourself how much customers love it.
AND THE MOST AFFORDABLE MODEL IS…
Rheem RTE 13 Electric Tankless Water Heater
Your water heating solution to smaller homes and apartments (4 GPM) and the most affordable model
The RTE 13 is perfect for small homes. With a steady flow rate and admirable energy efficiency, it’ll get the job done for 2-3 bathrooms at a time.

A Few Final Words
These are just a few of the best tankless water heaters 2017. I’ve put a lot of effort into ranking and reviewing these units, so I hope I’ve helped at least a few people out there make a smart purchase decision.
If you’re still undecided, that’s okay, too. You shouldn’t rush into the purchase of such an important appliance. Just remember that any product receiving less than 3.5 stars on Amazon probably isn’t worth the price.
This concludes my tankless water heater reviews 2018. Good luck! Happy hunting!
Thanks for the great information, it was very helpful! I am looking for an electric version and was leaning toward the EcoSmart. Upon further investigation, I found that EcoSmart models require at least two 220V circuits. I don’t have that in our condo, so looks like Rheam is the better option for me. Perhaps you can include this information so that others will know there are different requirements for electrical connections. Also, I found that Rheam has a newer model with digital display and 1-degree increment setting – RTEX-13.
Should look at the copper vs stainless steel heating elements as a point of review especially for those on acidic well water when comparing these as the longevity is greatly different in this application and some of your top choices are not stainless.. Check out the Navien NPE-A in this regard, I think you missed out on the opportunity to teach there. Some worry about up front cost while others look at overall cost and early replacement . Great review otherwise.
Copper is of great harm when acidic water from wells that do not have pH filtration units oxidize the copper from the heating element and go into the whole house supply. Copper is a healthy hazard in these scenarios and levels found in people using these types of applications lead to disease and harm.
Thanks for your comprehensive review. I had a bad experience with another brand and had to remove it so the effort and time you have taken to do your review is really appreciated.
Sherrie,
Thank you so much for letting us know! Please send your friends to the site if they are interested in a new waterheater.

How do I know if a tankless is condensing or non condensing?
If would appear we didn’t answer this question. I trust that in the last year your found your answer?
Thanks for stopping by our review site!
Hello DE Klingenberg,
Its a huge list of tankless water heater you have prepared. I like tankless beacase this type of water heater is eco-friendly as well as economical. The most beneficial feature of this is on-demand hot water. It requires some maintenance to get the best output.
Whatever, do you think compare of its cost, tankless a bit less economical than tank type?
Thanks for such a great post
It really depends on the individual situation. If you have natural or propane gas, it can be the same or more economical. Recirculating units can be even more economical than tanks because you save water costs by not having to run the water in order to get hot water to the tap. Tanks heat and reheat water even when hot water is not needed for hours on end. So, again, it really depends on the situation. Hope that helps.
I know that outdoor water heaters have various advantages like they are ideal for families living in farmer climates and easier, cheaper, and faster to install. However, I still have questions that what are the differences between indoor and outdoor tankless water heaters? And what is better? Hoping you can willing to answer my questions. Thanks!
There really is no “heating” difference between indoor and outdoor heaters. The only difference is with Gas units. The indoor units have to be vented to the outside and the outside units don’t need that venting. Hope that helps.

Thanks so much for sharing, It is very useful for me. I am gonna follow more of your other posts.

Can you Suggest me Best tankless water heater for 4 member family
I can suggest a size, but the brand will be up to the individual. Your website seems to offer similar information to mine. I might ask you the same question. If someone can afford it, I suggest a Rinnai unit that handles at least 7 to 9 gpm for a family of 4. Depends on the climate. Can’t go wrong with https://amzn.to/387Enay.
