Electric Tankless Water Heater Reviews

While everyone's hot water needs are different, there are a few products I tend to recommend to everyone regardless of their budgets or house sizes. The products are simply that good. Here are a few in-depth electric tankless water heater reviews to help you make your choice.

- Best Electric Tankless Water Heater - (Overall)

1. Stiebel Eltron Tempra 24 Plus

The Tempra 24 Plus is a fine machine that will serve your needs for years to come.

stiebel eltron tempra plus review

Rating : 4.7/5

A very advanced model in the technological department, the Tempra 24 Plus comes with buttons and sensors aplenty to make sure your hot water is always exactly how you want it.

For starters, it offers between 3-5 GPM, and that number can be adjusted depending on how high you want to heat your water and how many bathrooms you're using at the same time.

For a higher flow rate, lower your temperature; for a higher temperature, lower your flow rate.

The Tempra 24 Plus also comes with many perks that you can't see, including overheat safety sensors and thermal protection resets. This makes it a great unit for families or anyone with small children.

If safety is a priority for you, the Tempra 24 Plus will regulate itself to make sure it always stays within safe performance parameters.

The one downside to the Tempra 24 Plus is the price.

It's on the upper end of the price range for electric tankless water heaters, and that isn't including any circuit breakers or amps that may need to be purchased for installation.

There are some units I always recommend to newbies. Then there are units I recommend to people who know what they want and what they're willing to pay for it. The Tempra 24 Plus falls in the second category.

While not the cheapest or the most friendly to beginners, the Tempra 24 Plus comes with a host of technological advancements that make it the perfect unit for people who aren't kidding around about their hot water.

It has many strong performance specs, including:

-3-5 GPM
-240 volts
-21.5 x 19.5 x 8.8 inches
-15.4 lbs

Bottom Line

At the end of the day, the Tempra 24 Plus is what you should buy if you don't want to compromise on your hot water.
Take a look at its reviews on Amazon to see for yourself how many people enjoy it.

2. Ecosmart ECO 27

With a great combination of power and performance, the ECO 27 is a strong contender for the best electric tankless water heater on the market.

eco 27 review

Rating : 4.7/5

For starters, it offers up to 3 GPM and requires just 92,000 BTUs per hour. That's enough to power multiple showers at once and keep your energy bill nice and low.

Some systems require you to sacrifice one for the other, but the ECO 27 lets you enjoy both.

Speaking of enjoyment, you'll also like the broad range of features and functions that the ECO 27 provides for everyday use. For example, you'll be able to control the temperature of your water down to single-degree increments.

The ECO 27 is also an incredibly compact unit. At just 20 x 20 x 6.5 inches and 17 lbs, it can be installed anywhere, including under sinks and inside closets. It's an electric system, so there's no need to worry about fumes or flames.

According to Ecosmart, the ECO 27 can save you up to 12 cubic feet of storage space all together!

There are many things that the ECO 27 does well, but its biggest draw is that it does them all well at the same time.

Some tankless water heaters force you to choose between power, value, efficiency, energy savings and overall worth, but the ECO 27 offers it all in one convenient package.

Here are the specs you'll enjoy with this unit:

- 3 GPM
- 92,000 BTUs
- 240 volts
- 20 x 20 x 6.5 inche
- 16.8 lbs

As you can see, it's an impressive list. While none of these figures are the very best in the industry, they're almost unprecedented when they're all joined together, so you'll get the best of power, control and eco-friendliness when you purchase this unit.

Bottom Line

Speaking very generally, the ECO 27 is what I'd recommend to people sight unseen. If I had to point at a single unit and say "yes, buy that one" without knowing anything about their personal budgets or preferences, I'd point at the ECO 27. It has that kind of all-around value.

At the end of the day, if you're looking for a tankless water heater that can get the job done, it doesn't get much better than the ECO 27. Check it out on Amazon to learn more.

Rinnai RTE 13 review

Rating : 4.5/5

Are you on a budget?

Or are you looking for a no-fuss, easy-to-install tankless water heater that doesn't require a technical degree to operate?

The RTE 13 is the product for you.

Offering 4 GPM, the RTE 13 can serve everything from dishwashers to washing machines at the same time, so you won't have to worry about running multiple appliances at once.

It includes on-unit temperature controls and LED lights for easy performance readings, so you won't have to worry about understanding it, either.

In addition, the RTE 13 is a breeze when it comes to installation.

While I always recommend letting a trained technician do these things, it isn't that difficult of a DIY project if you want to roll up your sleeves and handle it itself.

Bottom Line

I've had many customers over the years who are unsure about making a change to tankless water heaters, and to them, my answer is always the same: Try the RTE 13. It's affordable; it's easy to use; it will be in your family for decades to come. Check it out on Amazon to learn more.

4. Ecosmart ECO 18

eco 18 review

Rating : 4.5/5

Another excellent unit from Ecosmart, the ECO 18 offers everything you'd expect from the brand with a few bonus features, too.

First things first: You'll receive 2.5 GPM with this unit, which isn't the best flow rate on the market, but it isn't the worst, either.

You can also install multiple ECO 18s throughout your home if you're worried about meeting your hot water demands.

As a "point of use" unit, it can be installed at any and every sink you desire.

The energy savings are another draw.

You can expect to save up to 60 percent on your energy bill when you switch from a traditional water tank to an ECO 18.

Depending on your water use, that could translate to saving hundreds of dollars per year!

You'll also enjoy all the standard benefits of an Ecosmart model, including single-degree temperature control and a lifetime warranty for your purchase, so don't forget about those.

Bottom Line

All in all, the ECO 18 is a great unit for buyers who want an electric tankless water that's worth the cost. But you don't have to take my word for it: Click over to Amazon and see its reviews for yourself.

5. Rheem RTE 9

Rinnai RTE 13 review

Rating : 4.7/5

We've already talked about the RTE 13, and while this unit is very similar in terms of brand reliability, there are some notable differences in performance and price.

For example, the RTE 9 is more affordable than anything else listed in these electric tankless water heater reviews.

If your plan is to install multiple "point of use" units around your home, this is the base price you want.

It can also be an attractive figure if you're thinking about switching to a tankless unit but you're not sure if you want to invest your entire paycheck in the idea.

In terms of flow capacity, the RTE 9 boasts 3 GPM and uses 240 volts. That's enough for simultaneous showers and multiple water-using appliances as long as you're careful with the temperature.

You might also be interested in the conveniences that the RTE 9 offers in everyday use.

Bottom Line

Like other Rheem products, it comes with standby lights and on-unit controls to make sure that you can always understand, adjust and utilize its features; this isn't a unit that tries to confuse you with its high-tech capabilities.

Check out the RTE 9 on Amazon if you're ready to make the change from an old and rusty water tank to a sleek and high-performance tankless unit.

Now,the review part is over.In order to make you understand more about electric tankless water heaters,I have written an in-depth guide regarding its working, advantages, disadvantages and all.

Let's take a look into it.

How do They Work ?

Traditional water tanks heat and store gallons of water at a time. When you take a hot shower or turn on the red-colored tap at your sink, you're using water that was stored in your water tank.

Tankless water heaters work a bit differently. They heat up cold water as it rushes through your pipes, so there's no need for hot water to be stored and delivered in a separate location. They operate on an "as-needed" basis.

There are several different types of tankless water heater, including natural gas and propane, but we'll be talking about electric units here.

Electric units are less powerful than their counterparts as a whole, but they're also smaller, safer and easier to install, especially for first-timers.

What are their Pros and Cons ?

Wait, you may be saying. What do you mean they're safer?

As with everything in life, electric tankless water heaters have both pros and cons. You'll need to consider them equally if you want to make a smart purchase decision.

Pros

  • Electric units are more affordable. While natural gas and propane models can be $1,000 or more, electric models are usually somewhere on a scale from $100 to $700.
  • Electric units are safer. This is because they don't require or generate any flames or fumes. They operate electrically, and as such, they can be installed anywhere in your home without fear of fire or gas.
  • Electric units are smaller and more compact than most natural gas and propane units. Some of them are so tiny that they can be installed right under your sink!

Cons

  • Electric units aren't always as powerful as natural gas and propane units. While the latter can offer up to 11 gallons per minute (GPM), most electric units stay between 1-6 GPM.
  • Electric units aren't typically "whole house" units. As the name implies, whole-house units are meant to serve an entire residence with a single box. Electric units are "point of use" units, meaning that they should be installed at the very sink or shower (the "point of use") where you want your hot water.

As you can see, there's no clear-cut distinction between the best kind of electric tankless water heaters. You should consider all of your options carefully before you swipe your credit card.
